When you use the Bikipi platform, we collect the following data:

  • Identification data: first name, last name, email address, profile picture.
  • Profile data: biography, accommodation preferences, languages spoken.
  • Location data: the address of the accommodation (for hosts), geographic position (with consent).
  • Communication data: messages exchanged between users through the platform.
  • Technical data: IP address, browser type, operating system, connection data.
  • Usage data: pages visited, features used, session length.

3. Purposes of processing

Your personal data is processed for the following purposes:

  • Creating and managing your user account.
  • Connecting travellers and hosts.
  • Handling accommodation requests and bookings.
  • Communication between users through the built-in messaging.
  • Sending notifications about the Service (confirmations, reminders and so on).
  • Improving the Service and analysing its use.
  • Preventing fraud and keeping the platform secure.
  • Meeting our legal obligations.

4. Legal basis

The processing of your data rests on the following legal bases:

  • Performance of the contract: processing is necessary to provide the Service (account creation, matching, messaging).
  • Consent: for geolocation, marketing communications and non-essential cookies.
  • Legitimate interest: for improving the Service, preventing fraud and ensuring security.
  • Legal obligation: for meeting accounting and tax obligations.

5. Retention period

Your personal data is kept for the following periods:

  • Account data: for as long as you use the Service, then 30 days after the account is deleted.
  • Messages: for as long as the account exists, then deleted within 30 days of the account being deleted.
  • Connection data: 12 months, in line with the applicable regulations.
  • Cookies: 13 months at most.

6. Data recipients

Your personal data may be shared with:

  • Other users: the profile information you choose to make public.
  • Our technical subprocessors: hosting, email delivery, usage analytics (in compliance with the GDPR).
  • The competent authorities: where required by law or by a judicial request.

Bikipi never sells your personal data to third parties. Transfers of data outside the European Union are covered by appropriate safeguards (standard contractual clauses, adequacy decisions).

7. Your rights

Under the GDPR and the French Data Protection Act, you have the following rights over your personal data:

  • Right of access: obtain a copy of your personal data.
  • Right to rectification: correct inaccurate or incomplete data.
  • Right to erasure: request the deletion of your data.
  • Right to restriction: restrict the processing of your data in certain cases.
  • Right to portability: receive your data in a structured, readable format.
  • Right to object: object to the processing of your data on legitimate grounds.
  • Right to withdraw consent: withdraw your consent at any time.

8. Deleting your account and data

You can delete your account and all your personal data at any time:

  • From the app: go to your profile, then tap "Delete my account" at the bottom of the page. Deletion is immediate and irreversible.
  • By email: send a request to contact@bikipi.com. We will handle your request within 30 days.

When your account is deleted, the following data is removed:

  • Your profile data (first name, last name, picture, biography, preferences).
  • Your listings and their photos.
  • Your messages and conversations.
  • Your connection data and notification tokens.

Some data may be kept in anonymised form for statistical purposes or to preserve the integrity of existing reviews and bookings, in line with our legal obligations.

9. Cookies

bikipi.com uses cookies to work properly and to improve the user experience.

The cookies used are:

  • Strictly necessary cookies: essential to running the site (session, authentication).
  • Analytics cookies: to measure the audience and understand how the site is used (with consent).

You can manage your cookie preferences at any time through your browser settings or through our consent banner.

10. Changes

Bikipi reserves the right to change this privacy policy at any time. In the event of a substantial change, users will be informed by an in-app notification or by email.
